Why the upper house matters

It's meant to double-check government's laws before they pass, a safeguard against one party having free rein. Melissa Lowe our Community Independent is the watchdog it's been missing.

My priorities

Integrity

Politicians should answer to voters, not party machines. I took the state government to the High Court to fight for a level playing field, and I won. I continue to keep them honest.

Justice

Honest government isn't optional. I'll demand transparency and hold power to account, whoever's in charge.

Cost of living

Families here are stretched thin. I'll fight for real relief on bills, not slogans. I will work towards de-corporatisation of service delivery and cost reduction by elimination of profits.

Housing

Everyone deserves an affordable place to live. I'll push for real action on affordable supply, not more excuses. I will push for broader criteria than just cost - livability, for a start.

Climate & environment

What's left of our environment isn't up for negotiation. I've stood against native forest logging and backed local action on clean energy. Real steps, not press releases.

Intergenerational equity

Today's young Australians are set to be the first generation in decades worse off than their parents. Fixing this isn't optional - it's about making sure the next generation gets the same fair shot at a home and a future.

About Melissa Lowe

Twenty years championing a level playing field in education. I believe we all should get a fair go. I took that same fight for fairness to the High Court, and now I'm bringing it to the Upper House.

No party machine, no factional deals, just a promise to keep working for my community. I believe future generations deserve better.

Someone's got to keep them honest. Vote 1 Lowe.
